Recurring challenges in air emission control

ISSUES IN AIR EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS

Across projects and conversations – including at IFAT Munich 2026 – the same issues in air emission control systems keep returning.

    1. Performance drops over time

Many air emission control systems (biofilters, scrubbers) perform at start-up, but decline due to changing process conditions and lack of continuous optimisation.

    2. Maintenance is underestimated

Effective odour control and emission reduction require active system management. Without proper monitoring and maintenance, performance becomes unstable.

    3. Wrong technology choices

A mismatch between problem and solution is still common. For example: ammonia removal is not the same as odour control. Incorrect assumptions lead to underperforming systems.

    What this means

These are not isolated issues. They explain why:

    • emission limits are not met long-term
    • operational costs increase
    • system reliability decreases

At AEC Systems, the focus is on long-term performance of air treatment systems under real operating conditions.

    At IFAT Munich

We are discussing these challenges daily at IFAT Munich 2026.

Recognize these issues in your installation? Let’s exchange insights.

You can schedule a meeting with:
